From invitation to shared care

A focused, five-step handoff.

The pet owner stays in control of the share while Apple handles the private invitation and participant access.

Choose the pet
Open Home → Care Team (also available from More), then choose Invite for one pet. Other pets remain outside that invitation.

Choose the relationship
Family sharing defaults to editor access; caregiver sharing defaults to read-only access. Review the permission before sending the invitation.

Choose the categories
The core profile is included. Adjust health records, medications, reminders, care history, routines, measurements, and documents to fit the recipient’s role.

Send a private invitation
Apple’s sharing sheet delivers the invitation. The recipient accepts it with their Apple Account and iCloud.

Keep care in step
Shared updates are checked when PetNodex opens or returns to the foreground, and a manual Sync Family Care Now action is available.

Roles with purpose

Give each person the access their role needs.

Permissions are attached to the private Apple share. Only the owner can manage participants or end the share.

A deliberate boundary

Care information can travel. Financial records do not.

The share is designed for coordinating a pet’s wellbeing—not opening every part of the owner’s app.

These records remain in the owner’s private PetNodex data even when care sharing is active.

Control stays visible

Manage people or stop sharing from one place.

The owner can open Apple’s Manage People controls to add someone, change access where supported, remove a participant, or stop the share. Apple may hide an account’s email address or phone number for privacy.

When permitted caregivers log care, their recorded names can appear in the shared care timeline. Medication Adherence brings scheduled doses and those care entries together, helping the team see what was recorded after synchronization.

What removal means

When the recipient’s app next detects revoked access at launch, on return to the foreground, or during manual sync, it removes the shared pet and its associated local records, media, previews, and scheduled alerts. This is not an instant remote wipe and cannot retrieve screenshots, exports, or information copied outside PetNodex.

Before you share

Important requirements and limitations.

Sharing works best when everyone understands the technology—and its boundaries.

Use trusted participants

The owner is responsible for choosing recipients, roles, and shared information. Participants can view shared records on devices they control.

iCloud is required

Participants need a compatible Apple device, a supported PetNodex version, an Apple Account signed in to iCloud, and an internet connection. CloudKit availability and Apple’s terms and privacy practices apply.

Sync may take time

Updates are not guaranteed to appear immediately. Network conditions, iCloud availability, app activity, and device settings can delay synchronization. Verify critical information directly.

Not for emergencies

PetNodex is an organizational tool, not an emergency or medical communication service. For urgent needs, contact a veterinarian or the appropriate emergency service directly.

Information is user supplied

PetNodex does not verify the accuracy or completeness of records entered by users. Care decisions should be confirmed with a qualified veterinary professional.

Feature in active development

PetNodex is in active development and is not yet published on the App Store. Screens, availability, requirements, and sharing behavior may change before release.

Privacy is part of the design.
